Round 19

Sherrie is annotating, so Jan Dixon is now your on-line reporter.  Matt
Graham (USA) comes into this game with a 12-game winning streak.  Early
in the game, Matt bingos with OTARINE, Jeff Grant (NZ) bingos back with
AErOLITE, followed by Matt's ALIENIST.  Matt's next play is CHEROOT.  I
think Matt is winning :)) Interestingly, Matt performed at a local
comedy club both Friday and Saturday nights.  The guy has incredible
stamina.  Just in, Matt is ahead 452-290........smoking!!!!!  Barring
HUGE differentials, this should lock Matt into the finals. Joel Sherman
(US) was down by 417 - 389 against Bob Felt (US) when he bingoed out
with EARNING for 75. Then he got the tiles on Felt's rack, which were
VVTAS (22).

This round has been enormously exciting for everyone involved. The
onlookers are hangin over the ropes.

JAn is now changing her mind about matt having it locked up. It might
not be such a shoe in.

Gerry Carter (THI) lost to Adam Logan (CAN) by 160. He played VARMIT,
then CLEEK, he made about 150 points in two plays.

We are in the midst of incredible tension right now. Edley (USA) and
Nyman (GBR) are in a tight game. Everyone is beginning to crowd around
the board. Mark lost the game in a heartbreaker.... Mark had NEWSPEAK,
but wasn't sure it was good, so he didn't play it.

Joe pulled out an incredible win. If COED stayed on the board, Mark
lost.

Right now Edley and Felt are TIED.  13-6 +673, they are the same!

This is not confirmed, exactly, but Jan Dixon is figuring this all
out.

Wow.

I have two annotated games to bring to you on cgp, but there isn't
enough of us to go around.

In Matt's game, , I see AEROLiTE, OTARINE, ALIENIST, DETENU, CHEEROOT,
QUINIC, TEGUA, VITTA, GUIRO. I don't think I've ever seen any of these
words before. Matt beat Grant (NZ) 499-300. Oh, did I mention ZIMBI?
Matt is trying to tell Ron Tiekert that he doesn't know anything......
right.

Jim Geary (USA) says he is spinning out. Lester Schonbrun (USA) is
above 500. He says he is doing pretty well. Jim said he's lost 3 games
since lunch. He has only played 3 games. Lester is a beaten down
American.

Joe Edley just kicked me out of his seat at Table 1. I think he is
getting into the zen of those tiles. John Chew is currently getting a
lesson on how to pronounce Missaka Warusawitharana (SRI)'s name. It is
cute.

Steve Gruzd (ZAF) played John Luebekemann (USA) and won. John played a
very good game. He was way behind and found a way to make 62 points
with the combination of FUHRUR and HEX. He only lost by 40 when he
found these plays. Steve is now 9-10 -19, almost even. Robin Pollock
Daniel is 9-10 -699. She is just going with it. We are supposed to be
having tea but I am trying to find something to say about the rest of
the games.

okay, I quit. More next game.
